Welcome to the Farmers Market Riceville Homepage

Farmers Market-Riceville began in 2008 with a permanent site at 203 West Main Street, Riceville, Iowa. The site was funded and purchased by the Wapsi-Great Western Line (WGWL) Trail Association (entirely volunteer based). Through their efforts to develop the WGWL Trail and in accordance with a Vision Iowa Community Attraction and Tourism Program, Farmers Market-Riceville provides a community enhancement. The site is mowed by the city, but is beautified by volunteers and the vendors. Acme Farm donates the flower plantings annually.

Farmers Market-Riceville and the WGWL Trail, as part of the Northeast Iowa’s Food and Fitness Initiative, was nationally recognized by The Kellogg Foundation to combat rural diabetes and promote healthy food and fitness.

Farmers Market-Riceville is a certified Iowa Market providing locally grown food and nutritious baked items. To be a certified market, a certain percentage of the vendors must be trained and hold special endorsements by the state.  Farmers Market-Riceville is the only certified Iowa Market in the area. The market can take WIC/Senior FMNP coupons. Market hours are Online Order Pickup 9-9:30 A.M. and Open Market 9:30-11 A.M. on Saturdays from the end of May to mid-September.
